Ngurah Rai Airport Announces 24-Hour Closure for Nyepi Observance

The management of Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, has declared a 24-hour closure of all flight operations in observance of Nyepi, the Hindu Day of Silence, scheduled for March 29, 2025. This decision affects a total of 425 flights, comprising 207 domestic and 218 international services, according to the airport's general manager, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab.

The closure will commence at 6 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (UTC+8) on March 29 and will last until 6 a.m. the following day, March 30. Shahab emphasized that during this period, all flight services would be suspended, with an exception made for medical evacuation and emergency flights, which may still operate as necessary.

To facilitate any potential emergency landings and medivac requests, the airport will maintain a team of operational, security, and technical personnel on standby at the operations control center.
