A fire tore through Kumbasari Market in Denpasar early this morning, destroying 25 stalls in the bustling traditional market before firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. Denpasar Fire Department deployed eight fire trucks and dozens of personnel to the scene, battling the flames for over three hours. The fire was finally declared under control at 08:45 WITA, according to the Head of the Denpasar Fire Department, I Made Sudiana. Speaking at the scene, Sudiana confirmed that no casualties had been reported, though the material damage was significant.

“We are grateful that no lives were lost, but the economic impact on the affected traders is severe. Our priority now is to ensure the site is safe and to assist the investigation into the cause,” Sudiana said, his voice hoarse from coordinating the operation.

The blaze engulfed a section of the market's ground floor, where vendors sold a mix of textiles, handicrafts, and fresh produce.
