Fire Destroys 16 Villas at Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort in Tabanan

A devastating fire engulfed the Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort in Kediri District, Tabanan, Bali, on the morning of August 15, 2025, destroying 16 villa units and leading to material losses estimated at around Rp 40 billion. The blaze, which broke out around 9:15 a.m. local time, was first reported by an employee working on-site.

According to Kediri Police Chief, Commissioner I Nyoman Sukadana, the fire was initially spotted by a worker named Sukiman while he was installing bamboo matting in villa number 11. "Yanto, a colleague of Sukiman, noticed sparks coming from an electrical cable that was pinched by the bamboo," Sukadana stated. The fire spread rapidly, fueled by strong winds and the flammable materials used in the construction of the villas, which included wood, bamboo, and thatch.

Efforts to extinguish the fire began immediately as workers on-site attempted to control the flames with makeshift equipment. However, their attempts proved futile, and they quickly called for assistance from the fire department. Sukadana confirmed that no casualties occurred during the incident, highlighting the swift actions of employees who cut off electricity and evacuated people within the resort area.

I Wayan Suakta, Head of the Fire Mitigation Division 4 of the Tabanan Civil Service Police Unit, reported that six fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, with three units from Tabanan and three from the neighboring Badung district. Firefighters battled the flames for approximately four hours before successfully bringing the situation under control. "The fire was finally extinguished, but it caused significant material losses," Suakta noted.

Witnesses described the scene as alarming, with footage of the fire circulating on social media platforms showing thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames engulfed the resort. The rapid spread of the fire was exacerbated by the construction materials typically used in eco-friendly resorts, which are often more susceptible to flames.
